New Delhi: Passenger vehicles sales declined 20.55 per cent to 239,347 units in May according to the data by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The sales stood at 301,238 units in May 2018.
The decline has been the sharpest in the history of passenger vehicle segment. Within this segment, cars declined 26.03 per cent (147,546 units), whereas UVs and vans witnessed degrowth of 5.64 per cent and 27 per cent to 77,453 units and 14,348 units respectively.
Overall domestic sales also dipped 8.62 per cent to 2,086,358 units in the month under review.

Source: SIAMCommercial vehicles saw a decline of 10 per cent to 68,847 units while two-wheelers slumped 6.73 per cent to 1,762,206 units.
According to industry experts, this is the worst situation in last 15-20 years.
