Maruti Suzuki Alto clocked a sales of 23,360 unit in January 2019 becoming the best selling car when compared to the same month last year when it sold 19,134 units in the second position.

On the another hand, its compact SUV, Vitara Brezza climbed two rungs up at fifth slot with 13172 units of wholesales. Vitara Brezza has crossed 4 lakh sales mark in less than three years. Moreover, it leads the compact SUV segment with a market share of over 44 per cent year-to-date.

For the first time, Hyundai Grand i10 slipped to eighth positions with 10,285 units sales in January 2019, losing two ranks, when compared to the same month last year. Hyundai India sold 12,109 units of Grand i10 in January 2018.
As experts believe, there is a possible cannibalisation of Hyundai Grand i10 by Hyundai Santro because of the price overlap. Hyundai Grand i10 is between Rs 4.91 lakh – Rs 7.52 lakh, while the Hyundai Santro is priced between Rs 3.9 lakh – Rs 5.65 lakh.
Apart from this Wagon R slipped four positions down from fifth to ninth at 10,048 units. As the carmaker launched third generation Wagon R in the last week of January 2019.
